At Carbide Industries, calcium carbide is all we do, using the largest and most advanced carbide furnace in North America. We then crush the carbide into specific grades to meet the reactivities required for each application. Calcium carbide can be used directly as a process material or when it is reacted with water to produce acetylene and calcium hydroxide. The unique chemistry of the triple-bonded carbon in the acetylene molecule and the chemical reactions to form intermediates can be used when manufacturing a diverse range of chemical derivatives.
