OPTA Glass, based in our fully renovated Waterdown, Ontario, facility, is an advanced technology operation that processes blue box recycled glass and other waste glass streams. Using a state-of-the-art proprietary milling system, we produce fine recycled glass products unlike any others in North America. The largest glass recycling facility of its kind, the Waterdown plant will treat up to 150,000 metric tons of post-consumer recycled glass annually, consuming nearly all the recycled glass in the province of Ontario. Simply making concrete better
OPTA Glass ground glass pozzolan products are environmentally safe, high-performance, and sustainable secondary cementitious materials. Applications include ultra-high-performance concrete to architectural precast concrete, ready-mix concrete, and premium durable grades for infrastructure and construction projects.
Using recycled glass in concrete can achieve a 20:1 reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to cement. As a 100% recycled product, our ground glass pozzolan further reduces the overall carbon footprint, making it one of the most sustainable concrete additives available today.
Unlike many other so-called “green” building materials, recycled glass pozzolans also deliver improved concrete strength and durability, greater corrosion resistance, and superior alkali-silica reaction mitigation.
